The Marela Children’s Foundation joined Forces with the Hermanos Jaquez Foundation in the Dominican Republic to assist underprivileged families located in Santo Domingo who were greatly affected by Covid-19. Together, the two Foundations were able to provide non-perishable meals to many families along with some disinfectant gels and masks to keep them protected from the virus.
Because of the Pandemic the Foundation was unable to send any medications to the clinics in the Dominican Republic and elected to find other ways to help the Juan Lopez community. We were able to send some funds for food purchase and distribution for about 25 affected families. We also use some of the funds to purchase and distribute protective gear such as masks, gloves, and goggles to be handed to the Health Care Centers of Juan Lopez and El Higuerito.

In November of 2018 The Marela Children’s Foundation carried out it’s first Fundraising event with the objective to raise funds to start working on the renovation of the second health care center. The event was a complete success and this enabled the new renovation project of The Higuerito Polyclinic.
